Reasons To Workout That Have Nothing To Do With Your Appearance
Today we want to remind you that there are a ton of reasons to workout outside of aesthetics! AND that 10 different people could be on the exact same workout program eating the exact same diet and they would STILL LOOK DIFFERENT! Because we’re all beautiful unique human beings and our bodies show up in beautiful unique ways!
So much of fitness culture is rooted in appearances, and it’s a real shame because there is so much more to living an active and healthy lifestyle than how we look! We’ve listed out just a few of the reasons we workout that come before aesthetics!
1. PHYSICAL STRENGTH
It FEELS GOOD to be STRONG! Physical strength can (and will) look completely different from person to person. But getting stronger helps to alleviate aches and pains, make activities of daily living easier, and gives you a sense of empowerment and confidence that you may not have known you had!
2. EMOTIONAL HEALTH
Exercising triggers the release of endorphins, which make us feel good! But even outside of the hormonal response to exercise, sticking to a fitness routine helps us to feel accomplished and proud of ourselves for doing something for our health!
3. BONE DENSITY
As we age, we start to lose bone mass or density. Weight bearing exercise is one of the best ways to prevent this bone density loss to turn into a more serious condition such as osteoporosis.
4. INCREASED ENERGY
Not only do the endorphins from exercise help to make you feel more energetic, but you'll also notice that with regular exercise, your sleep will likely improve too! The increased strength and stamina will also help you feel more energized in your every day activities!
5. SENSE OF COMMUNITY
Often times we find community through our health and fitness endeavors! Meeting like-minded people who are also committed to bettering their health not only helps us to stick to our routine but also helps us feel supported and encouraged along the way!
6. HEART HEALTH
You may not be able to see them in the mirror, but our hearts are muscles too. And with an active lifestyle our hearts can get stronger and healthier!
7. FITNESS DOESN'T HAVE A LOOK
Let's stop comparing our bodies to others, judging ourselves and others, for the ways our bodies show up, and labeling certain body types as more "fit" than others.
