Kristen - May Member Of The Month

We are really excited to announce our May Member of the Month - Kristen Boike. We are really proud of how far Kristen has come since started training with us at Chicago Fit Performance. She has been a member for a little over 2 years and she first came after her second child. She started with zero core strength (which is pretty normal post prgnancy) to winning plank and jump rope challneges at the gym! Kristen is so dedicated to her fitness that she almost never misses a session. Now being pregnant with her third child she continues to work hard and to be a role model not only for her kids but to many people outhere. Kreiste also brought her husband David to CFP and very quicly he became one of our success stories. We are really happy to have such a great family as a part of our fitness family.

As a thank you for being such an awesome clients and for winning Member of the Month, Kristen receives a Massage Gift Certificate as well as a spot on our blog.

Check out Kristen's video belowand be sure to congratulate her with a great comment in the COMMENTS section below.

We really appreciate you Kristen!

1. What do you do for a living?

I am a commercial real estate attorney at Jenner & Block.

2. How long have you been a member of Chicago Fit Performance?

2+ years

3. Tell us about your fitness background?

I never focused much on staying in shape. Growing up and through college, I played sports so by default I was pretty fit. In the years following college I kept active playing basketball, running, and training for a couple of marathons. I really noticed the need to get back in shape, however, after my first two kids were born. I was not feeling very fit and and put on a fair amount of weight with the pregnancies. I had lifted weights in high school and college so doing metabolic fitness training seemed like a good option for me.

4. Take us back to your first workout with CFP... what was it, and how did it feel?

I joined CFP at the recommendation of a friend. I was going to be in my sister’s wedding and wanted to get back in shape before her big day. The workout was so hard for me. I came home and felt so sick that I had to lie on the floor for about 15 minutes. It wasn’t pretty. 5. What do you like the most about CFP and why do you think our program works? The times work great for me - I am able to get a workout in before my kids wake up in the morning. Also, I love the efficiency of the workouts - strength training and cardio all in one! I never get bored at CFP. The workouts are always changing and are certainly challenging. After all this time, I still get sore.

6. When did you realize that Chicago Fit Performance was right for you?

Even though it was very difficult at the beginning, I immediately knew it was the type of workouts I wanted to be doing. Also, I really liked the family atmosphere.

7. What is your favorite/least favorite workout exercise?

I really like jumping rope and kettlebell swings.

8. When did you realize that Chicago Fit Performance was right for you?

They are great. They are motivating, but not in an overwhelming way. I have continued workouts through injuries and pregnancies and they are always very helpful in finding modifications for me when I need them. I really enjoy the atmosphere at CFP.

8. What sort of changes have you seen in your body, health and fitness since starting Chicago Fit Performance (before/after)?

When I eat well and am consistent with my workouts, my body is much leaner, I have more energy, and I am in a better mood. I am currently pregnant with our third child and the workouts definitely helped me get through my morning sickness in the first trimester - I felt the best on the days I had been to CFP.

Also my husband signed up for CFP and the recent Transformation Challenge. CFP has had a tremendous effect on my whole family!

9. What do you think about the trainers and the staff at CFP?

They are great! They are motivating, but not in an overwhelming way. I have continued workouts through injuries and pregnancies and they are always very helpful in finding modifications for me when I need them. I really enjoy the atmosphere at CFP!

10. How would you describe yourself in one word?

Determined.

11. What is your greatest strength/weakness?

I feel like I am in a job interview. :)

12. What is your favorite healthy food & “cheat” food?

I actually really like vegetables. As for cheat foods, anything goes, but a hot cookie skillet with ice cream is always a safe bet.

13. What is something that we don’t know about you? (Your hobbies, interesting fact, accomplishment you are proud of, obscure/unique talent, funny story, etc.)

One summer I spent three weeks walking in the north of Spain on the Camino de Santiago and then came back to the U.S. and hiked the last 100 miles of wilderness on the Appalachian Trail. I loved it!

14. Do you have any advice for people just getting started at Chicago Fit Performance?

Give it a try - a real try. Commit for a month (long enough to get past the feeling sick stage) and see how you feel. I am pretty sure you will keep coming back!

*Each month at Chicago Fit Performance we are selecting a Member of the Month. This person will be selected based on a variety of criteria ranging from accountability, motivation, team spirit, results, and more...
